  1. Pre-Optometry
hey guys.. I'm far along in the application process, but by the looks of things I will be enrolling at NOVA for August 2010.. HOWEVER.. I had somehow planned in my head that I would take anatomy next spring, since my undergrad didnt offer it and I need it for NOVA. Well, little did I realize that most schools only offer anatomy as a full year course with physiology, generally for nursing majors. Hear's my question.. I already took human physiology during my undergrad as a bio major, where in the world could I find a one semester anatomy class? Do you think there would be any online courses offered that Optometry schools would accept? Please guide me if you can, I was hoping to not have to call Opt schools themselves so I wouldn't make it seem that I didn't prepare enough in advance... But the case is I wasn't sure which school I would end up in, and I was hoping to delay having to pay another couple thousand until I knew I REALLY had to take it.. oops! Help if you can. Thank you

What schools were you looking at? Other 4 year universities or community colleges? You'd probably have better luck with trying to take it at another 4 year university rather than a CC. Also, it obviously depends on your location.

As for the online option, does NOVA require an anatomy lab? If so, you might have trouble downloading a cadaver or plastic models 😉

call nova. I'm pretty sure I read on these boards last year that they actually told someone where to take it online. (try a search)

with the overcrowded student population, my university offers anatomy & physiology online with lab as well...

Maybe I've misunderstood your concern, but, why does it matter whether or not Anatomy is offered as a two-part course? If you need only one semester of it, can you not simply take "Anatomy I"?

I would definitely look into some community colleges. They usually offer anatomy classes during every semester (from what I have seen so far).

That will be the most definite answer gained, won't it be?

Well all the schools I've looked into won't allow you to just take 1 part of a 2 semester course. And I'm going to just ask someone from NOVA when I go down next week for the interview because I am still trying to find somewhere that offers what I need. Unfortunately there aren't many community colleges in my area, and even the few that there are don't have a seperate anatomy course. But thanks for all the advice, I will most likely end up taking an online course seeing as how lab is not required.

If you've taken the first of a two-part course, what exactly can a school do to "make" you take the second? As far as I know, each segment is graded independently.
