Anatomy Shelf Exam

At Western, we are taking an Anatomy Shelf Exam after our final in anatomy -it's not for our grades though. The DO's take it as well. Are any other pod schools doing this?

A few students believe that this is a way of indicating whether we would do well on the USMLE -if Western want us to take it.

Never heard of pod schools doing it, you are probably the first. At azpod, we don't even take the shelf exams after each rotation.

~1/2 of the class took the Cell Biology Shelf exam and the other ~1/2 took the Anatomy exam.

Did they ever say why the shelf exams were taken?

and all students who took those course (DO/DPM students) were involved. Results were available to individuals who wished to see their own, but they were not made public, to my knowledge. I don't remember a reason being given.
