This is a school specific requirement. OHSU is the only school that I am aware of that requires Human Anatomy and Physiology. They require 3 quarters or 2 semesters w/ labs. There may be other schools that require these classes though, so check the schools you are interested in.
For OHSU yes, and they have a list of classes that qualify from their "feeder" schools on their web page. Any other school I don't know. If it is a 2 semester series with lab, (or 3 quarter series) then you can pretty much count on it being an upper division class anywhere.Do you know if Human Anatomy and Physiology has to be upper division?
Are you interested in OHSU? If so, call Mark Mitchell at admissions and ask him if your series at your school fulfills the requirements. That is the only sure way to know.It is lower division at my school.
As far as I know all schools require you to take 2 semester of basic Anatomy & Physiology. Most however, strongly encourage students to take more advanced courses dealing with anatomy such as Comparative Vertebrate & Invertebrate Anatomy as well as Embryology. Just check with the schools...that's the best advice.
Very few schools actually require A&P. Only 1 (OHSU) of the 8 schools I applied to do. A lot of schools recommend these extra classes. As far as I know all schools require you to take 2 semester of basic Anatomy & Physiology. I took one semester of vertebrate physiology and one semester of gross human anatomy. How many anatomy classes did you all take? What were they called?
i took one, vertebrate anatomy and physiology.. i think that is what it was called. I didn't learn much anatomy... mainly physiology.
i don't know of any schools that require anatomy per say, but they do want to see that u took some bio classes, and some upper division bios as well.
I was just thinking of getting a human anatomy book and start reading it for the heck of it. I should be prepared for that class..... or I could just learn when I get there.

If you have a chance, take it!! So far, Anatomy (especially that damn head and neck!!) is the hardest part of my current quarter. Actually, I should be studying it right now instead of typing on SDN. ......bad PDizzle!!!!!
It's a big perk if you took Anatomy and did well. 15% of my class remediated the first anatomy exam.
PDizzle says, "Take Anatomy and like it!"
