what is the position of thoracic duct with relation to esophagus

if esophageal orifice is post to aortic orifice,then esophagus shud be behind thoracic duct..................but the answer was the opposite
plz need explanation?????????????????????????????

The thoracic duct extends from L-2 along the entire length of the vertebral column to the root of the neck. This whole time it is, of course, posterior to the esophagus since the esophagus is anterior to the vertebral column.
