I keep hearing that Anesthesia is a very DO friendly field. I would like to know what people mean by this. There are only about 27 residency spots in the AOA as of now. On the contrary, I noticed in the 2009 match numbers the average anesthesia comlex score was about a 500. Is this true???? I thought ROADS was competitive to get into, but 500 seems like an average number.

Do ACGME anesthesia residencies accept COMLEX scores?

Basically, what I'm asking is, it seems everyone says this is a DO friendly field and the 500 comlex score doesn't seem high at all. However, I have always heard ROADS are the most competitive specalities to go into. So if someone could shed some light on this, please let me know. Thanks!

Anesthesia is the easiest Road. The road was never to the most competitive specialties either. Good luck. We look at usmle, so I hope you took it.

You probably can get into a DO residency in anesthesia with that kind of score. MD? Good luck with a 500+/- and no USMLE. If you had a 600+, then maybe.

Yea, from my experience and from my classmates experience, you need around a 600 to get any Acgme invites. You should really take the usmle, though. If you get around a 230, which isnt all that difficult, you should get around 15 interviews if you apply broadly.
