  1. Resident [Any Field]
i wuz wonderin if u guys could give me advice on my chances of getting a anesthesia residency.

My step 1 was only 262. Near honors in most classes, a few honors.
Letters from Barash, Chestnut
1st auhtor on 5 anesthesia-related articles.

Negatives on my resume

1. I dont drive a rice burner in black leather
2. I dont drive a monsta truck, slay cards and rip up on Patron
3. I dont own a knife for self defense, nor chill on rave music in Chick-ago
4. I havent yet bought a belt-fed machine gun
5. I dont golf or fly

Do you think with such a poor profile I can join the rok stars here or will I have buy a bow tie and discuss low sodium ad nauseum?

Shout out to the geto rat, lay it down straight.

I think if you refer to faqs section posted above you will find the answer to most of your questions.

I would recommend you apply broadly 80+ programs and plan on ending up in a low-tier versus community program. If you are DO you better take all steps of the USMLE and if you are a MD you better take step II early to make up for your step I score - like July/August of your 3rd year.

Hope that helps.

Any other questions?

you can also talk about other electrolyte abnormalities while wearing a bowtie... don't just limit yourself to sodium man.

LOL!

Man if you had a 263 you'd be solid.

Better settle for DERM at UCSF ya loser.

you laugh but when I was on the interview trail, I met a girl who got a 262 on her Step I and a Step II of 261. I only found out because she interviewed right before me and the interviewer told me, he couldn't stop talking about her. I asked her about it later she shrugged it off and said she was doing aneth. because she liked it. BTW she said she wasn't AOA and didn't honor anything and went to a lower school.

Dre-
Good thing you got a letter from Barash. Maybe you'll be able to get into Puerto Rico's program this year. Good luck though.

My LOR's are from Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, and G-Dub. Only now do I realize I may have trouble getting into a residency spot. board scores: 2 billion on step one, 3 billion on step 2.

But can you do a smooth transition from a moonwalk to a cabbage-patch?

If you can do that, you can get in! But if you bite your lip in concentration you'll blow the whole deal no matter how phat your cabbage is.

I'm offering a 6 week moon2cabbazage course this summer in Dubai. Be there or miss out big time.

How much is said course?

I know its supposed to be a joke, but do you think a LOR from a former president of the U.S. would carry any weight in obtaining a residency spot?

Not from "W" it wouldn't unless maybe you were trying to do a trauma surgery fellowship(they have made tremendous advances since 2001). Come to think of it, I don't think a letter from the real Clinton would help either...wasn't he the prez when the "anesthesia teaching rule" went into effect and cut compensation in academic anesthesia in half?
