Anesthesia Subspecialities

Hey everyone---had a question...was wondering what subspecialities of anesthesia CRNA's were NOT allowed to practice in? before a recent post, i was under the impression only MDA's could practice pediatric anesthesia. thanx.

Critical Care Medicine is the ONLY one.

dont understand?? how does a crna fit into a pain management setting>?? he or she can do a "fellowship" in pain management, or peds, or cards? i did not know they could do this with the 2 yr training they receive? thanx guys. if thats the case why did we even fo thru med school?? lol.

Yes, they have successfully pulled the wool over the eyes of the public.
But as you may know, many anesthesiologists do all of these subspecialties without any fellowship training as well. I even did pain for 3 years without doing a pain fellowship (I don't recommend this however). We all do peds and cardiac depending on the group/practice we join. When I was finishing my residency w/c was not that long ago (5yrs), the only ones that did fellowships, with the exception of pain, were the weaker residents that struggled to find good jobs. This may have changed since then but it is something to consider.
