I'm going to try and make it for the weekend, I'm only 5-6 hrs away. I'm on Ortho that month so I'm going to see if they'll let me off that weekend. Location this year is nice for me logistically, but it's going to be tough to beat that wicked sweet setup they had in San Diego last year. That was the perfect location/conference center/climate.
 
Yeah, the San Diego location sounded pretty sweet. This is going to be my first year there, I'm looking forward to it. I'm only going to be there Friday and Saturday night, though.

Agree about the setup last year, and the climate was nice in theory but the weather sucked in actuality....I barely saw any of the typical SoCal sun during the entire conference last year.

I'll be there this year. We definitely should set up a meetup...nothing interesting happened last year.
 
Yeah, the rain sucked, but at least it was nice warm rain and good temps. And it seemed to at least let up most days. I didn't mind the overcast. I'd take that any day over the weather I have encountered during every trip I have made to chicago in the fall and spring (howling, freezing wind, sleet, snow etc). Keeping my fingers crossed that Chicago will surprise me this year.
 
I'll be there. This will be my first time as I have recently fell in love with Gas. Wanting to get more of an insight into the profession and getting more involved.
 
Ill be there.... my hometown. we should arrange a SDN cocktail or something, would be nice to put a face with some of these names and say thanks for the advice Ive been given over the years... i feel like the least I owe some of you is a cocktail on me 🙂
 
As long as the get together would be on Friday or Saturday night, I'm in... I'll have to run back home to brain and behavior after that, though. 😎

I've never really been to Chicago, just through the airport a few times. I'm excited to see what it's like. Now I just need to see if I can find a hotel that is close to the train system for less than $250/night... which is where all the ASA hotels are priced.

I'll be there! Hopefully rubbing elbows with some PDs that are looking at my application file to gimme an interview. But also repping my abstract and poster.
 
I'm on MICU next month and on call all weekend. And my current program doesn't pay for interns to attend conferences. 🙁 I was really looking forward to going since it's so close!

I was also wondering this... although I'm looking forward to meeting other students, as well as residents. 😎

Did everybody get a hotel through the ASA, or did you guys do something on your own? I'm going to be in a room by myself and hate to spend that much money... but I'm not familiar with Chicago, so I figured that the safe thing would be to go through the ASA. I'm thinking about doing the "headquarters hotel" Hyatt Regency. I also will be depending on public transportation. Does anybody have any tips?

Hey RT2MD I'm down to share a room with you to save cash! I'm also not familiar with Chicago at all since it will be my first time there. If you want someone to split the room with let me know... if not I'll just book my own room. I'll be coming in on Friday afternoon and leaving on Sunday. Send me a PM if you want. 👍

Awesome! The only problem is that I already booked a room, and I think it's only a one double bed room. 😀 Let me call the hotel and see if I can get a better room. I'll PM you.

Alright, so we are getting close... what if we tried to do an SDN get together Friday night somewhere? Anybody familiar with Chicago to suggest a place that is close to the ASA hotels?
 
I'm here at the Hyatt Regency on Wacker. Hit me up. Look for the incredibly awesome guy with the shaved head or the loser drinking by himself (crown in hand right now). One of those two.

Damn. I tried to get a room at the Regency, but it was booked by the time I made my reservations. I'm down at the Palmer House Hilton (Monroe St.). I think I'm going to try and grab some "real" pizza around that area Friday night, if anybody is interested (or if anybody had any suggestions) let me know.
 
I'll be there but since I'm local I'm just commuting. Anyone going to the meet and greet tomorrow night?
