Jwk can you comment what percentage of AA's go on to medical school? Wikipedia has the rate at 10% but it looks that number is from a couple of years ago. Have you noticed anything in terms of a trend?
I think the number of AAs going on to medical school is far less than it used to be 30 years ago. Many of those who applied years ago were seeing it as a stepping-stone to medical school. Now it's seen as a solid primary career choice and most have no intention of going further. That 10% number might have been correct decades ago. Now, I'll bet it's 1-2% at best.

Thanks to all the posters that replied. I will be presenting possible career pathways to college students in a couple of weeks and want them to have as much information/options available for them to research. I'm betting that medical school seemed more enticing when loans for it were sub 150 k and interest rates were also lower for than they are now.
