Hey guys,

Current Status: OMS-4
School: East coast DO- program
Step 1: 225
Step 2: 231
COMLEX-1: 530
COMLEX-2: 575
Pre-clinical: High-Pass I.M
Class rank: Top 20 %
Research:
1 Abstract publication in gastro.

Biggest Problem is I don't have any LOR from Anesthesiology ??? Have anyone matched with I.M letter?

Do I even have a chance? somewhere in the Northeast area ??

Thank you

Have you done an anesthesia rotation at all?

I did do it. During 3rd-year. But I never actually asked for a letter

You have to get a letter from an anesthesiologist. I don’t know what it is like to walk in the shoes of an internist and likewise for an internist vis-a-vis an anesthesiologist (perhaps even more so).

Contact an anesthesiologist, meet with her and explain your situation. Offer to shadow or do whatever it takes. That is the game you need to play. Some programs might offer you a spot but not the ones I have personally been affiliated with.

Reach out to any docs you know from that rotation! As noted above, explain the situation, offer to spend extra time this week or next outside of your rotation coming to shadow. It's okay if you submit your letter a couple weeks after submitting applications (or delaying applications that long).
