Check out the link above. I had never seen this ad before until today.

It seems like mistrust of OBs is becoming mainstream. As someone contemplating the field, the attitude displayed is very upsetting. It seems like it is becoming commonplace to view OBs as selfish and uninterested in their patients. Viewing sites like 'My OB said what' is equally upsetting and enlightening. It seems like there is a mounting groundswell against this medical specialty.

Those rich privileged doctors need to be taken down a peg. They spend too much time worrying about potential emergencies instead of just enjoying the wonder of childbirth. Only nurses and lay midwives are actually capable of caring, you know.
(I wonder if that site does have a mechanism to report rude/mean nurses and midwives actually).

I'm not in ob/gyn myself but I do notice that there seems to be a LOT of resentment of ob/gyns out there in the general public. As if the high rate for ob malpractice insurance weren't enough evidence of that. I think it is really unfortunate that a lot of laypeople don't understand or appreciate the time, effort, and dedication it takes to do ob/gyn (especially the ob - since that's the most time-consuming part). The lack of respect or appreciation must be very tiresome.
