hi guys,

i can't seem to get over 8 on the angle section for PAT. the longer i look at the angles i get more confused and i just end up losing time. for those that do pretty well on this section what are your techniques? i know this section is supposed to be easy but i am constantly getting low scores and it's frustrating cuz i try different techniques but none seem to work.

i especially hate comparing two angles that are pointing in opposite directions! how do u do those??!!

This section is by no means easy. I however had a easier version of angles on my DAT compared to CDP. Angles are confusing and makes it even more confusing when you keep on starring at it. I dont think any1 can help you out with this. You just have to find your method, stick to it and work it out. Just dont spend more than 7 mins on this section, its not worth it!

I agree!! Just go with your best guess. Sometimes the lengths of each side of the angle are different and that makes it really confusing, so try looking at only the tips of the angles.

thanks ms. toothlady i hope to get an easier version too on the real dat! congrats on your scores! your right i shouldn't spend so much time on it cuz i could use it in other areas. i also find it hard to transition from tfe to angle ranking.

i know! the different lengths throw me off a lot! barron's has a pretty good way of explaining how the different lengths could throw you off but it didn't work for me.

i look at the tips but after two or three glances between two angles they both start to look very similar!

for angles, just go with your gut. dont waste anytime on this section. i probably finished it in 5 mins on the real test. here are some suggestions for really small angles, just try to fit one into the other (these are the easiest in my opinion). for small-to-medium size try to picture a persons nose and who has the bigger one. for medium size angles (90) try to think of which hill is steeper (spend the least amount of time on these, they are really hard), for big angles just think of which one is closer to being flat.

hope this helps, dont worry about this section focus on the other ones 👍

could u elaborate on the nose technique? do u just look at a small area near the tip?? thanks!! well, it's this section and pattern folding that are giving me the most trouble. i think it is keeping me from getting over 19-20 cuz i can consistently get more than 10 on all the other sections. but i also read that crack pat is a little harder than the real thing. if u used it would u agree?

Really, there is no technique for this section. I think its pure luck. There are times I would only get 8-9 right and times when I would get 12 or more, but I think I could easily just get 4 or 5 right. Just go with your gut and dont waste too much time on this section. I try my best to finish this in 5 or 6 mins, and I think that is too long still!

i look for the largest or smallest. that usually narrows it down to 2 answers. then from there, look at the other 2 in question, if acute, use the nose technique. the more "pointy the nose" the smaller the angle.\

im going to try the hill tech mentioned earlier too

i guess im lucky because this is one of my strongest sections...pattern folding on CDP is def my weakest (at least when they throw shading, dice, or lines in. if just shape, its not hard, its those darn shading and lines and dice that are keeping me from getting a 20 or higher overall)
