Every anesthesiologist will knock heads with surgeons every once a while, which is normal and I can easily accept that. But are there any programs you've heard that has too much tension between the two departments that it makes the work unpleasant? If so, which. I've heard that a program in TX (not sure which) had/has a surgeon so unpleasant that they finally decided not to provide him with service and he had to get his own anes to do his cases.

If a surgeon is that unruly, their privileges should have been restricted/revoked long ago. A hospital and/or the medical staff as a whole invites punitive legal action for allowing abusive behavior to continue unchecked.
