When making a card for vocabulary, do you put the definition first or the actual word on the front?

For example: A cell is the basic functional unit of all living things.

Front of Card: What is a cell?

Back of Card: Basic functional unit of all living things

Or

Front of Card: What is the basic functional unit of all living things?

Back of Card: A cell

Which would be more effective?

Do both, don't write it in question form so you don't end up talking like you're on Jeopardy, and utilize a basic (and reverse) card type. Bury siblings checked on review.

Front (and back of second card): A cell

Back (and front of second card): The basic functional unit of all living things

This will create two cards in your deck, and allow you to create associations in both directions of term->definition, and definition->term.
