Okay so I have the test in 7 days. I started dedicated 3 weeks ago having completed UWORLD one time.

3 weeks ago- NBME 17 (220)
2 weeks ago- UWSA1 (236)
few days ago- UWSA2 (230)
yesterday - NBME 16 (226)

I understand the NBMEs are more accurate +/- 10 points and assume I am currently in the 220-230 range. I am trying to get into a competitive surgical specialty, so I am feeling a bit down by these numbers.

Currently I am 50% through my 2nd UWORLD pass and have done 1 pass through FA. I did pathoma throughout 2nd year and not real recent.

My only areas of real weakness are MSK,Derm,Anatomy, and Embryo. Everything else is sort of even across the board. I really feel like the questions I am getting wrong are not even hard. I also feel like I am making so many easy mistakes. I'm not quite sure what the best route for me is. Ive had people tell me to do purely UWORLD (8 blocks/day). I've had others tell me to go through FA twice. While my original goal was 245, I would probably be happy with a 235 now.

Please give me your honest assessment and or advice.

(I cant push the test back)

Thanks

I'd say if you think your knowledge base is adequate then you should look at each question you got wrong and ask yourself why and how you can fix it so it doesn't happen the next time. I'd spend time getting used go the nbme style, because it is a lot more straightforward than other resources.

Other than that, if you "cant" push your test back than you may need to just accept the reality that it will be unlikely that you will match into a competitive specialty. You can hope to get lucky but u wonldnt count on it. That got me into trouble with the mcat. Trust in your nbme scores (UW over predicts). There are outliers, but you def can't count on it.

If it's that important for you, I'd say you should bring it up with your school and push back your first rotation.

I think those are your options.
