wondering if anyone thinks beyond the prereqs that the area of your bachelor degree matters? I previously thought that having a Bio/Chem/Math major would make all the difference, but now seeing on how all these programs are trying to emphasize diversity (a speaker from the UW madison school went on and on about it, so i think they really mean it this thyme) wouldnt a degree in something like anthropology/social services or something help my chances?
Thanks for the input.

they really don't care what degree you have because either way, all students have to complete the prereqs and that is the important thing. Most people just go for a degree in science because most of the prereqs are covered for that major.

I will tell you that especially in Madison, diversity is a key issue but more so from an ethnicity point of view. They have "Plan 2008" in action to increase the number of minority students. Here is the website for all to read:

Yes I agree that a Bachelors in a non-science field may help your chances of getting in, but diversity as they see it is minority status. So you can read all of the books on other cultures and take as much foreign language or anything else to enhance your "cultural competence" (this is the website for that http://www.pharmacy.wisc.edu/Student_Services/handbook_PreSOP/content.cfm?ID=97).

After spending the last four years at Madison and graduating with a BS-Bacteriology, I have spoken at length with Pharmacy School officials and I do understand and respect the logic behind their choices. Please, this is not talking down to Madison by any means because I absolutely love the city and I do not want to discourage anyone from applying there, but it is a competitive school on terms of state residency, gpa and pcat (avg is 3.7 and 89%), and ethnic background.
