Hey, everyone. I apologize for the post, but I have been worried ever since receiving my Step 1 score. I scored a 210. I am in my 3rd year at a US MD school and I am strongly leaning toward peds or pediatric PM&R. I wanted to gain your thoughts on my chances at a solid academic pediatric program for residency. I get to train at a top 5 pediatric hospital for medical school. I do not expect to be accepted at my home program, but I do hope to get into a good academic program so I can possibly do a fellowship.

Will a significant improvement on Step 2 improve my chances on a strong academic program?

Thanks for your time!

A friend of mine got into a top program with that board score. He seems to be doing fine there now.

You can get into a solid academic program with that score. Whether it'll be a top program or not is dependent on the rest of your application... have you done any ECs in med school? Research?

Being from a US school, that score should not limit you. I'd apply anywhere you'd want to go.

Step 2 score is icing on the car.
