Another D.O. question

I've been browsing through many of the allopthic EM websites and have noticed that D.O.s are severely lacking in these programs. I'll go to a site and look through the residents for the past 5 years and often not see one single DO.

Do you guys think this is b/c we don't apply as much to the allo programs or do you think it's flat out b/c we don't get accepted?

You should do a search. Also, EM is one of the more DO friendly residencies.

There are a lot of DO applicants for EM... realize how popular EM is amongst medical students and multiply that by, what, 20 DO schools? There are some prejudices out there against DO applicants but, obviously, we still match into MD programs. You just have to find the ones.

I was offered about 20 interviews; however, I took the USMLE and was told on deveral interviews that this helped them choose to interview. This did not seem to be bias, just easier to compare "apples to apples".

I agree, use emramatch as a good guide as to where to apply too. Some of the more "elite" places I got interviewed include: yale, wash u, charity. In the all competitive so cal, I got shot down pretty bad; however, did interview at king and Bakersfield.
