Hello,
For example, I'm going through some flashcards for the DAT, I obviously know that starch is a what plants store for food? Do I need to remember the specific fact that it is a polymer for alpha-glucose, is that much intricate knowledge needed?
Thanks!

Yes, you are missing some critical points. Glucose has an alpha 1,4-glycosidic linkage, while cellulose has a beta 1,4-glycosidic linkage. Our bodies can only metabolize the alpha linkage.

If you're hungry, do you eat grass? No, because our enzymes cannot break down the beta linkage. This is an important concept to understand!
