I hear a lot of people talking about how hard it is to sustain yourself in dental school... but on my award notice, it gives estimates for housing, travel and personal expenses that make it seem like I'll actually have a little bit MORE money than I do with my current job as a research tech. Are the estimates that the school gives on these values generally similar to actual values? How many of you opted to pay intrest on unsubsidized loans while you were in school, and how much do you think it will save you when you're done?
And one other question: how much less every month - from your experience in school - would you say you spend on personal expenses than you did when you weren't in school?
I just got approved for a new home rental, and I'm trying to make a budget.
Thanks for you input,
Dan
PS: I'll be attending San Antonio in the fall... so if you have any direct experiences with the UTHSCSA, it would be especially helpful!
