Hi, I was one of the winners of the kaplan 3 month giveaway and have been doing them since I have won. I have just finished my 1st year so I am only doing the questions pertaining to classes of year 1.

Can someone tell me how the kaplan percentage scores works as compared to Step 1 scores? I have been averaging about 58 - 60 % on those questions (timed, unused). I am not sure how to gauge my performance. I have ranged though from 40 %- 80%. (BTW I tried the calculator, but it's not working on their site)

Also please someone guide me as to where I stand in my studies. i.e, Do I need to put in more effort during 2nd year or solidify more on 1st year's materials.

Thanks in advance

You don't have to worry about your score. It's too early.
you will learn a lot from them !

Kaplan folks say a passing score is generally 65% for Kaplan Qbank and
if you are aiming for above 90, need the very high 70% correct range.

For future reference,
My Kaplan Qbank: 77% correct (subjectwise)
UW : 80% (all random, timed, unused)
NBME2 : 252 (4 wks before exam)

I would put a lot of effort into phram & path.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I am already behind the curve and need to step it up. i am trying to hit the 90s, hopefully I can get there. So Path & pharm are the major subjects that are tested? What about Micro & Immuno?

thanks

You can do it !

I think patho/pathophys & pharm are more emphasized on step 1 than micro/immuno. (depends on the test set you get, to be exact)
But micro/immuno is still important subject. Don't discard any subject. 🙂

You need to memorize a lot of stuff in micro.
I used FA/CMMRS/Kaplan LN(for reference) for this.

GL :luck:
