so i worked at 2 different labs in undergrad, 1 year for each. i originally had one of my postdocs writing me a LOR but he recently backed out of it saying that he rethought about it and he couldn't write me a strong letter since my time there wasn't long enough. is not having a LOR from a lab after researching for 2 years a red flag? or is the fact that i was only at each lab for a year going to help explain why i have no recs from my labs

i haven't been in touch with the people from my first lab, so i'd feel very weird asking them for a LOR at this point.

to clarify on my second lab: i got transfered between postdocs half way through. so really, i only worked with each postdoc for about a quarter and a half. then i went home to study for mcats

so my time with them actually was very limited

okay so lets say i really don't end up with a letter from my lab,

is that something i'd need to address in my PS?
