This has probably been posted before but the circumstances are usually different among applicants. I already made my decision back in March but I'm still looking for some extra input.

As a New York resident, the tuition difference is not as extreme. The main difference in costs would come from living expenses in NY. These are living expenses that I am already relatively accustomed to. The environment of NY is also something that I'm familiar with. The transition into a new lifestyle would in some ways be balanced by a steady environment. The class size at NYU is much larger. I'm not really sure if that's a positive or a negative aspect.

I have heard (from the relative that attended the school) that the reason why NYU has such a large class size is because they have a much higher drop out rate than other schools. Just something to consider about NYU.

So, in general, would you say the chances of succeeding are better at Temple?

I asked the director of the NYU dental admissions when I interviewed, and she said there is no truth to that rumor. She showed us the numbers, and they seemed to suggest a normal attrition rate. I bet if you call up they will discuss the numbers and address any concerns you have. I don't have any dog in this fight, but, after seeing both schools, I would say go NYU. Best of luck. 👍

Also, more students will drop at NYU because the class size is larger. Percentage-wise it might even out. It's probably the out of state tuition that makes this more difficult. Regardless, how much does environment really matter?
