I just retook the GRE and am a little afraid of how long it might take for the scores to arrive at my schools. Unfortunately, I can't order any additional score reports at the moment (it might be too early -- after all, I just finished the test 2 hours ago!). Today's the 11th, so technically the scores SHOULD arrive at my schools before the October 1 deadline. However, I did hear that ETS will only send out scores twice a month, and that the day I order scores will not really have any bearing on how long they might take to get there. Do y'guys think there's a chance my scores might not make it in time, or am I spazzing out over nothing?

Also, how strict are schools in enforcing score report arrival by their deadline? A few schools say that the last date they'll let applicants take the GRE is Oct 1, but then they say that the last date they'll accept scores is also Oct 1, which doesn't quite make sense to me because it takes at least 5 days to send out scores! *confused*

I just took the GRE for the first time today and am worried about the same thing too! I am applying to KSU and have to have a photocopy of my score report to send with my supplemental application by October 1. Hopefully it will make it on time.

I am also worried about this as I am still planning on retaking the GRE this month... I wanted to take it on the 16th so that the 15 days it supposedly takes to send scores would put me right at October 1st, but all of the time slots for that day and before then got filled. 🙁 I think most of my schools say that it is fine as long as the test is taken by October 1st, but I saw that Oregon State wants official scores by that day. I guess my first round will have to be enough for them... which means I'm so not getting in there! I'm now mainly worried about how to handle the percentile thing in VMCAS if I don't have them by the time I submit. Any ideas?

i wouldn't worry too much. I think the standard is that you take the GRE by that date. Most school are a little more forgiving about GRE and transcripts - because they rely on something outside of the students complete control. If you are super nervous - you could just shoot the admins an email to check. I know that all the schools I applied to sent me an email/letter letting me know if anything was missing around november/december - so they must have some flexibility. If I had been missing anything, I would have a set amount of time to get it to them.

I've been fretting about the same thing. I took my last test Aug. 28th. I designated four schools at the test center (and I believe they've gotten there, since one school I asked said they had gotten them) and stalked the GRE site for days. When at last my most recent test date came up, I clicked that bullet (although it wasn't included with the: send all available scores 😕) and had the other four reports sent, which haven't gotten there yet. I'm nervous about it but the replies seem to be, "Oh, if we don't have something we'll let you know and give you time to get it in." Which is super confusing with all of the "MUST BE IN BY THIS DAY OR ELSE!!1!!one!" on the websites but if they say they'll do it, I believe them. I'm just trying not to worry too much, but I feel you!

I'm taking mine tomorrow and I'm worrying about the same thing. This is a re-take, and last time it took about 2 wks for the schools to receive my scores. I assume it'd be about the same this time around too... but it also seems like the schools are more lenient about when they receive your GRE scores.

I just emailed a few schools whose deadlines for the GRE are coming up very soon (WSU and CSU).

CSU said that if score reports arrive slightly after the deadline, it would be all right. However, they do want self-reported scores on the VMCAS app, supplemental, or both.

WSU sounded a little more strict, however... the rep said that if scores don't make it by the Oct 1 deadline, the application would be considered incomplete. I'm not sure if "incomplete" means incomplete in the way that UC Davis thinks of incomplete - that they'll give you a second chance to submit all missing documents - but it doesn't sound too promising 🙁

This is what we get for re-taking it in September. :bang: I think what I might do is just send out my older scores, and then send the newer scores as soon as they become available (bye bye more $$). But at least that way you can make sure they get SOME scores before or by Oct. 1. Aside from that, I'm in the same boat. :\ I'll just try not to worry about it too much... there's enough to worry about!

I just took the GRE yesterday (I know, stupid on my part for not signing up earlier) and I am wondering how long after everyone took the test the scores became available to send online? I was expecting to be able to go online and designate schools right away and ETS would send them after the writing section was scored. That makes sense to me since you can designate schools immediately after the test, but it doesn't have yesterdays test date as an option yet. I am a little bit worried

I am determined to give everything I've got.

Took GRE's early August:
Math- 720
Verbal -740
should i re-take?

My test scores were available online exactly 15 days after I took the test...

My scores appeared online 16 days after my test date. My scores were reported on the 8th, but the CVM won't receive my scores until the 22nd.

I called ETS about this. The rep told me that the score report wouldn't be available online until about 4 business days after taking the test (I took the test on 9/11, and I was able to order the score report on Thursday, which was 9/16). And even though the score report was available online, my actual scores weren't (probably because the writing section hadn't been graded yet). The rep told me that it would take about 5 days after THAT to actually mail out the scores. Hope that helps!

I took the GRE (computer-based) on 8/29, and it took 17 days for my scores to show up online. I received my score report in the mail the day beforehand. I'm not sure when they were mailed to the schools. The guy I spoke with on the GRE hotline said they would send the scores out approximately two weeks after the test was taken, but I'm not sure how accurate that is, given the fact that so many people on here seem to have heard otherwise.

just got my official scores via the GRE website 🙂
so that means... it took exactly 16 days for them to process it. So hopefully the scores now make it to the schools on time!
And this unfortunately means I have NO excuse not to turn in my applications now (I was using the lack of percentiles as a reason to hold onto it, forever).
Someone tell me that I should just turn it in?!
