what in the HELL is going on!!! i have been rejected again.. now from UMDNJ!!
that makes 3...case, temple, and new jersey!!! oh and NO INTERVIEWS!!
i have 3.2 gpas and 20aa+ scores!! PLEASE HELP! how is this happening! why!!
peoeple with lower dats, grades, etc. seem to be getting interviews still,, but not me. is anyone else in the same boat? similar scores as mine but still NO interviews?????
i am going to go cry now. 🙁

unfortunately, the admissions process is highly erratic. lots of great applicants get rejected for various reasons. one reason is... they don't always look at the applications. some deans of admissions, to simplify their life, just accept random people who are good enough. And of course, there are many other reasons. some legit. others not.

What is the rest of your application like? Do you have extracurriculars, research, shadowing? Any individual sections on the DAT that are low? Do you have any idea what your LOR were like? Upward trend in grades? Where else did you apply?

i applied everywhere.....all the places i am supposed to apply.
i have ECs, lots of shadowing in various fields, etc. lowest score on dat was 17 in math...
like i said, i dont understand why this is happening to me...already!
how am i not competitive? i dont know what else to do besides call schools ask them the reason...but i dont care. nothing i can do now. 🙁

My advice would be to call and ask, when I called to change my address with VCU the lady who coordinates the interviews looked at my app. I asked her if I should retake the DAT due to a 17 avg. and she let me know in a round about way that I didn't need to due to the fact that I had a fairly high gpa (3.6) and that I was from a rural area, and that I am an instate applicant. I have also met with the asst. dean twice when he came to my school. Just thought this might be something for you to consider.

Relax guys! You all have awesome stats, just give it time as schools are SWAMPED with applications and going through them individually takes A LOT of time. As long as it's not a rejection, you still have a shot!

All I can say is ask the schools why you got rejected so early and follow their suggestions in case nothing works out this year... but it's still early in the game and as long as you applied to enough schools, someone might not want their spot at a certain school and something might open up for you.

if i was in this situation i would be calling each school to find out why i was rejected. you need to find out if there is something weird going on with your application. who knows maybe aadsas screwed something up, it wouldn't be the first time. 🙄

also,i called or emailed EACH school i applied to if i hadn't heard from them in a couple of weeks to check on the status of my application and make sure things were rolling along. this has been my approach and so far it has worked out really well.

I think you're bound to get rejected by at least a few places if you apply to a lot of schools, unless you have amazing stats/extracurriculars or luck on your side.

Just try to stay on the positive side (I know it's hard, but try) and keep yourself busy so you don't worry too much about the application process

maaaaa, I feel ur pain...we're in same boat....i got rejected from indiana and case... I honestly don't know y....I'm gettin all tense....people with 18 on DAT get 2 interview but me nothin.......ive done everything that was possible....😡 😡 😡

Similar situation here, I do have one interview, but I also have 3 rejections. The rejections are tough this early in the game especially when most people haven't been rejected once yet. Oh yea I'm a 3.2 20/20/20 also

Sorry to be Mr. Obvious🙄 , but everyone is different, has different beliefs. Just remember to stay positive. You can't change what's already done. There's still plenty of time for schools to contact you.

it seems like a lot of us are in the same situation. I don't think I have top stats, but mine should be competitive. (3.3 gpa, DAT 20/20/21). I got rejected from case and indiana too! No interviews for me yet and I am kinda worried that the reason some of us might be getting rejected is because we applied late. I thought I was ok, my AADSAS was mailed out on Aug. 18, but now I am severly starting to doubt my chances. I think we all need to keep ourselves busy and wait it out, I think there will be more second round interviews, cross my fingers.

I must congratulate you on your achievement--master's extracurricular, etc. You certainly are a motivated person.

Don't feel bad. Harvard is always difficult to get into, but I'm sure you will get into a good dental school. To just keep things in perspective, remember that many people are struggling to get into one dental school. GL

as far as I know, lots of schools dont even look at your LORs before send out interview invitations... I am sure many of you got invited before you sent your LORs.. right?

Edit: Ah one more thing.. you guys dont ever assume that your appl file is complete because you got interview invitation. any item could be missing and you can still get interviews,, especially the LORs.. in other word...dont ever trust AADSAS's work. They dont do as much as they got paid. Check with the schools!! you could be surprised on your interview day. When I went to UMDNJ for interview.. they didnt have my LORs,, I had to call my school and had them fax the letters directly to the admissions office...
Its always good to doublecheck.

I like this post. It makes us forget that there are about 12,000 applicants for about 4600 seats this year. I don't know about you guys, but I canNOT relax. I certainly don't have the luxury of withdrawing an application b/c I don't have 7-8 interviews. =(
