Another stupid LOR question

and this time I've read the CAS manual. 😉

I have LOR's in my file at school that I elected to have "open", and have already seen. I would like to include one of these in my CAS application, but obviously it's not in a sealed envelope with the author's signature across the seal.

It was written over a year ago - is the only thing to do, to go back to the author and ask for a sealed copy? I'm worried that will look 'fishy', since he knows I've already seen it and is incredibly unlikely to be familiar with CAS submission rules. I don't want him to think I'm trying to pretend (to CAS) that it's a closed letter.

I'm pretty sure CAS will accept letter's signed over the seal by your Dean of Student Affairs, that might be worth a try.

I wish I had known this at the onset. I had a letter I knew was at Student Affairs but couldn't track down easily from the writer (the signed over seal copy) All along I could have stopped bothering the writer's office and picked it up from Student Affairs.

The only other options here I could advise is to approach the writer with a copy in an envelope and as him/her to sign the seal or just send it in and see what happens (seems awfully risky to not work though).
