Maybe not as common as peds dental anesthesia deaths in office.

This was reportedly done in a hospital.

Anyone have back tattoo credentials?

Sounds like difficult airway. Death occurred during intubation.

Wonder where he got this done. Airway doesn't look difficult at all.
The influencer had reportedly hired a tattoo studio to give him a full back tattoo, which they opted to do by putting him under general anesthesia in a hospital in the Santa Catarina state of Brazil.

I can only see the partial pic of his face there but he does have that little beard that shows he may be hiding no chin under it. And he does have a thick neck... so its possibly not easy....

Who knows what equipment they have or don't have there? Maybe he didn't fast, and aspirated? Wouldn't be uncommon for people to think they're above the rules given its in the cosmetics side of the equation

Brazil. Who knows if he is actually “healthy.” Possibly on steroids.

There are plenty supplements that are steroids or stimulants that body builders use that may affect the anesthetic. Not saying that's what happened. But agree that they might not be "healthy"

Why would they need GA for a tattoo? it’s one thing to provide some fent/midaz sedation akin to a couple drinks. GA is idiotic.

It’s possible they did it without capnography, sux, difficult airway cart, back up personnel etc. Who even knows if they had a ventilator or just planned to bag the guy for hours.I mean even in the great USA I see basement endoscopy suites that do scopes with no bags of fluids, no sux, no etco2 etc.

Asa standards irrelevant until they’re relevant

Very common to have 6-8 hour tattoos.

Big complex back tattoo with details with one artist can be multiple 6-7 hour sessions.

Sooooo they can’t come back and do it in stages? Idk this whole idea is ludicrous
GA for tattoos isn't uncommon @ all unfortunately anymore. A partner does it on the side. Agreed it's ludicrous but then again these people are paying a tonne of money to horribly disfigure themselves so what do you expect?

Theyre all 'influencers' full of steroids cocaine and short life span
Its no big deal

Back in my day you just sucked it up and got ink'd. Eventually that area getting tatted get somewhat numb anyway.....or so i've heard 😎
