Hello everyone,

I was all set for VCOM-CC as I did not hear anything from PCOM-GA. Life was easy. Now, last week I got acceprtence from PCOM-GA and now I have to take this decision one more time where to go.

I understand that there have been some thread in the past but as I wanted quick input ( I have to put my money at PCOM-GA) by end of this week) I thought of opening one for me.

Both schools are 3-4 hours distance from my home.
PCOM-GA is established but VCOM-CC is new.
same fee
.. not sure what to compare more.

Thanks for your input.

Well, I don't really know what else to add to that. What are you looking for to compare?

Thank for taking time to post.
I do not know what else to compare but I have to make the decision soon and I do not know how to make this decision.

Did the location of VCOM-CC not bother you at all? I haven't been, so take this as here-say, but from what I have gathered it is in a rather poor location (to put it lightly). Aka, some people have been discussing the chances of their safety being compromised. BUT! from what I understand about VCOM is they will stop at nothing to make sure students feel comfortable. This sort of attention should make your decision a bit easier.

My guess that security should not be an issue. As every one know that the area is not very much secured, they will make sure the security is a priority.

other comparision is the class size. the PCOM-GA has 95 seats while as VCOM-CC has 150-160. So smaller class size is another good point in favor of PCOM-GA.

The only negative with VCOM-CC, I see is the brand new branch school.

any other thoughts please...

pcom-ga just increased class size to 125 i believe. Also, the school may not be in the most happening part of town, but it definitely isn't unsafe! I am pro PCOM-GA....but maybe it's because I am going there haha:xf:

Thanks MedicineMike.
As I said earlier, my guess is that safety should not be an issue as VCOM-CC because everyone knows that the area is unsafe, they will take care of this issue.
I have to come out other comparisons which I do not know.

Look at it this way:

VCOM-CC is in a rural area, pretty much in the middle of nowhere
PCOM-GA is <40 minutes from downtown Atlanta, one of the largest cities in the country.

Do want to live rural/small town or do you want to be able to go to a play on a Friday w/o planning ahead and getting a hotel???

You have a point but I am looking in terms of education.
VCOM-CC being new, I am worried if they wil be able to attract good faculy in next 2 months.

Any other views please. I have to take a decision today.

thanks

What are you talking about, referring to safety?

Thanks everyone. I am staying with vcom-cc. I like their block sytem too.

Hello,
I am sorry my question is unrelated to your post. I am a premedical student who got accepted to both TCOM (osteopathic) and Ross School of medicine(MD). I really cant decide between the two. Is there anything that MDs learn that DOs dont in terms of training, classes, etc? If everything is the same and DOs learn some extra therapy, then why are they considered inferior to MDs?

I doubt there are many people who would encourage you to go to Ross. Look at the match rates of DO students vs FMG, even if its US students going to foreign medical schools.
Also, are you TX resident? If so then hands down TCOM...their tuition is really low.
DOs are not inferior to MDs, there are fewer of them so they arent as well known...FMGs arent inferior to DOs and MDs but there are a lot of uphill struggles you will face going to school outside of the US.
