another way to use a high MCAT?

hi all,
does anyone know of opportunities available to applicants with high MCATs while you're waiting to get into med school (research programs, biotech companies, etc)? thanks for the help everyone

Agree. I was going to say the exact same thing. Sorry, OP, but there isn't any Publisher's Clearinghouse kind of party for you just because you aced the MCAT. 😉

on the contrary, if you have the time, then write your own mcat prep book

Well I think its been stated already but you could do some sort of MCAT tutoring or teaching either with a prep company or independently. Or as someone else stated you can attempt to write your own MCAT book.

But outside of teaching MCAT, which can be pretty lucrative (20 dollars per hour or more), there's not much else it will do you.

yeah ive been searching the web all day and thats all i could find too.

Someone should start a tutoring service through SDN: SDN could have a chat room service bringing together tutors and students. SDN could have the tutors go through a training program and charge $25 to students and pay, for example, $20 to tutors. this is similar to the tutor.com service, but they don't pay the tutors that well.

SDN does have a tutoring service for FREE. Its called the subforum!!!!

This site is not for profit. It is run by volunteers and against its beliefs to make profit off of the premeds.

You can become a princeton review teacher. Are you good at physics? TPR needs more physics tutors, at least in my region, and so does tutor.com. I am a physics tutor at www.tutor.com, and we really need more people who know physics II and III. For princeton review, you can visit their website and find more information about positions where you live.

Heh. If I wrote an MCAT prep book, do you really think people would want to buy it? And considering how long it would take, I'm not sure I'd ever get compensated for the time I'd have to put into it.

A high MCAT can be used for podiatry school, vet school, and I think many SMP programs ask for it too. Grad schools probably ask for it though it is not required of course.

What else....

I hear a high MCAT is really useful for impressing the ladies.

Like last week, while I was at the bar:

Me: "Hey sexy, how's it going?"
Hot girl: "Who are you? You creep"
Me: "But baby, I got 45T on the MCAT"

Then she went home with me.

Teaching programs will often accept MCAT in place of the GRE.....but then again your MCAT will probably expire by the time you have put in your teaching dues.

Or they could frame it. hahahahaha. Ok now I'm being a bit too nerdy. But seriously the only other uses for an MCAT score is going into other grad programs which sometimes allow MCAT in place of GRE and teaching MCAT to others.

Really?? That sucks. I thought you were just kidding. However, I must say that if they were that jealous they probably weren't a real friend in the first place. Its like those superficial girls that let go of their boyfriends because their boyfriends actually have to sit down and study for the MCAT and med school etc.

if you sell the mcat correctly, you can use a high score (35+) to your advantage in almost any job you are looking at (even business pursuits)

it is especially helpful if you run into someone who is familiar with the scoring the mcat uses or knows how competitive it is

Ok, so now someone needs to tell ME WTF is going on....this is all news to me. I thought everyone knows that my hot SDN affair is with beary. I have a thing for women with MD-PhDs. 😍 😉
