Well, after much debate, I've decided to give medicine a shot, once again. I applied back in 2001 and got as far as being waitlisted at MCP Hahnemann and UTMB, but obviously things didn't go as planned. After this heartache, I decided to go a different route and got a masters in medical physics.

Since 03, I've worked as a full time medical physicists which entails a close work relationship with rad oncs, but also occasionally with med oncs, radiologists, urologists, neurologists, and surgeons. This is what got my interest back into medicine again.

So, here's the breakdown;
GPA: 3.95 from the masters program (Rosalind Franklin Univ) and 3.45 from my undergrad (Emory Univ., Chemistry), ~3.35 BCPM
MCAT: 11 phys, 10 bio, 6 verb, R writing (may 07)
10 phys, 10 bio, 7 verb, O writing (aug 01)
EC: a lot of church ministries/volunteer work
RECS: great ones from medical director of rad onc dept, my supervisor, and chairman of my grad program.

I know my verbal is weak, but will this kill my chances at any allo school in the U.S.? (Grew up speaking mainly Korean at home). Will my work experience and post undergrad GPA make up for this deficiency? Should I think about just applying to international? (SGU, AUC, Ross)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

US MD is a reach; a big reach. GPA is low but with Masters may even out.

DO maybe, that verbal will hurt.

Personally, I would take the MCAT again and get that verbal over an 8 and at least maintain or increase the sciences.

Then, apply to the Caribbean as a last resort.

Unfortunately your GPA from your Master's program won't count for much. Any chance you can take some post-bac classes to improve your undergrad GPA? Alternatively, are there any classes you could retake?

Did you apply broadly and early the first time? Are you against applying to DO schools?

And out of curiosity, how did you work as a medical physicist if your undergrad degree is in chemistry?
