I am a 4th year med student interested in anesthesiology and radiology. My first rotation is in radiology and I am very excited. Am I kidding myself?
My stats:

DO school
Step 1 229/95
COMLEX level 1 600/89
Top 15%
Clinical Honors in psyche, peds, surg, and IM the rest are passes

Any takers?

Apply to both?

I'm not in Rads but the formula for the competitive residencies is practically the same across the board...

You can take Step II early and bust your ass to get 240+. It will improve your chances of matching but by no means is it necessary with a 229/95.

The other thing that will improve your chances is applying strategically and broadly. Cast a wide net and if you get inundated with interviews then cancel appropriately. Too few interviews and you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Research is always a plus but not necessary esp at smaller programs.

Your COMLEX score means nothing at allopathic programs esp since you have a USMLE score. Plus they're going to look at your 2-digit COMLEX and think you did "worse" when in reality you didn't. So I'd send my USMLE score(s) only.

G'luck!
