Another where should I apply?

3.3/3.05 GPA and science GPA.

Tricky part is I haven't taken DAT yet. I've been studying for 4-5 hours/day since 1 month ago and I have another 1 month to go before I take it. I have been scoring pretty well in practice tests.

I've read a lot of posts on this topic and came up with this list. Please let me know if any should be removed or added. Main question is Howard/Meharry and the other ones with question marks after them.

UNC (NC resident + undergrad)
UOP (just incase I kill the DAT 😀)
Howard (I'm not URM... so not sure about this and Meharry)
Meharry
USC
Boston University
Temple
Tufts
NYU
Western
Midwestern
Creighton
Louisville (?)
West Virginia (?)
VCU (?)
Maryland (?)
UNLV (?)

I'm also unsure about Michigan, Indiana, Marquette, and Kentucky...

And any other private colleges that I should give a shot?

Greatly appreciate any help.

Edit: If I have the choice, I prefer to go to a east coast school but I'll go anywhere if they let me. 😛

I applied to Indiana last year and they rejected me with a letter that said if I earned a 1 yr master's in biology with a 3.0 or higher, they would interview me for the next cycle. Just thought that may help considering your numbers and mine are similar.

I'm taking the DAT in 1 month. I have ~100 hrs shadowing, average volunteer/extracurriculars/personal statement I would say. TBH, I'm expecting 21+ in everything except RC which I may get 19-20.

I dont' see how DAT would help me apply different though. Even if I get 24's or something insane, I doubt I can apply to more competitive schools since GPA is so low.

At the very least, remove Howard, Meharry, and West Virginia. The other choices are decent. You have an ok chance at Michigan, Indiana, Marquette, and Kentucky. You should err on the side of applying to too many schools, in case your DAT is lower than anticipated. Expecting a 21+ is pretty cocky 😉

Haha I knew that was coming. I wrote it in the initial post and deleted it and had to post it later. I figured 2 months of studying gotta give me something. I guess we'll just wait and see. Thanks for the advise btw.

If that happened, send an application to Columbia as well, they can be forgiving of GPAs for a high DAT.

I am also rewriting the DAT at the end of JULY?
i have not submit my application yet ($1116 for 15 schools), should i wait and see who well i do on the DAT before i spend the $ ??

Yea same question. It's pretty risky for me too since I've never taken it before.

But I'm just going to risk it and assume I'll do well and submit to everything now rather than risking late application. Practice tests should give you a basic idea of where you stand.

If you're not URM such as Black or Latino, your chances at howard and meharry are very very slim.

Howard: 63% are underrepresented minorities - http://www.dentistry.howard.edu/admissions.htm

Meharry: under-represented minorities making up approximately 94% of the student body - http://www.mmc.edu/education/dentistry/center.html

Maybe howard if you're desperate, but unless you're URM I wouldn't waste my money on Meharry.
