I'm setting up the antimicrobial stewardship program for our hospital. Our P&T Committee has passed the charter and the committee guidelines for our stewardship committee/program structure.

I've got some ideas on initial policies to pass through the committee. We're going to go about this at a piecemeal process so as to not overwhelm our physician staff at the hospital.

As it relates to specific disease states and guidelines, I was going to see if any of you at other hospitals had some disease state-specific policies that I could use as templates to edit for our program? Or if you know of good references for templates of policies for disease-specific antibiotic protocols.

Thanks in advance!

The ACCP ID PRN listserv is ripe with these sorts of questions and answers.

However, before posting a question, you should search the archives, as not to bog it down with the same question that's been asked dozens of times.

I'd be interested in this too, and the listserv sounds great. But I'd need to pay $240 to become a member, and without even knowing for sure what kind of information I'd be able to gather from there, it seems like a bit of a gamble.

Forgive me. I'd hate to clog the board with clinical suggestions and prevent the threads about Walgreen's and CVS from being front and center. Will think before posting next time.

I suspect njac is talking about posting on the listserv before searching their archives. Any stewardship, ID discussions posted on this forum are a breath of fresh air (IMO). 🙂
