hi, i am new member and this is my first thread. i have a concern, and i wanted to share it with the members of this e-community. i have been increasingly anxious about taking the DATs. i feel like i have not had sufficient time to study. i am taking them in a month. i have a full time job, etc etc. whenever i have time to study, i become anxious and tear up the sides of my fingers or stare at the wall. the whole standardized test thing freaks me out and although i have been OK with it in the past, i think i might be in a particularly vulnerable place now. soooo i have been toying with the idea of speaking to a psychiatrist and asking him his opinion on prescribing me some adderall. i have never taken it before, but i know a lot of people who have taken it and like it. i am wondering if any of you have taken adderall or any other kind of anti-anxiety/ADD prespcription drug for test taking. any advice would be appreciated. good luck everyone!

First off,
EVERYONE gets anxiety before the DATs. It is a difficult test that carries alot of weight, and it only makes sense to be nervous about it. It is normal to have anxiety.
Secondly, taking medication is a very serious matter. I would NOT recommend getting advice on a forum about the benefits and side effects of ANY medication. I suggest that you go see your doctor, or other professional whose judgment can be trusted.
Rather than seeking medication, why not try excercise or meditation to calm your nerves. (Only side effect: smaller love handles!) Excercise has enormous calming effects, and you should try to use that to vent the stresses of the DATs.
