Any 3.0 GPA students?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
2.9 science gpa. around a 3.3 overall gpa. Don't remember my exact DAT scores but all between 20-22 (with the exception of RC, which I think was around 24).

Applied 14 schools, 3 interviews, 1 waitlist, 1 acceptance, didn't take the last interview (it came after I was already accepted and mentally committed to the school).

Where did you get accepted? Others schools rejected you? When did you apply? Anything special that you overcome your gpa other great Dat score?

accepted into unlv. other schools rejected me for the most part. still haven't heard from maybe 2 or 3 of them, but i'm assuming rejections. I sent out my application maybe early july? Took my DAT over a year ago. But no, nothing special to overcome, other than I needed to pull myself together and figure out how to succeed. My personal statement was mostly about my failures, how i moved past it, what i learned from it, and how i am a better person/student because of it.

What's a good enough DAT score to balance out a 3.0 GPA?

I'm ~3.0, 3.1 sci and 3.4 non-science, lots of research experience, community service, and DAT TS 19 AA 19. Applied to 16 schools, only got 1 interview. 🙁

Knowing that I only had one real shot this year, I spent a little over $1300 just preparing for the interview. I bought a new suit, got it tailored, bought some super nice shoes (and yes I spit shined them), shaved my beard, got a decent hair cut, put on some cologne, exercised and lost 10 lbs, practiced interview questions, practiced my smiles in the mirror, and made a little portfolio.

~About week after my interview I got a acceptance letter and it felt like I had won the lottery! 😀

That is the story of my life.

Applied and submitted in 2nd batch with an overall gpa 3.09/sgpa 2.88/bcp 2.67

Got UM and Roseman Interview pre-dec.
Got into UMich on Dec 3rd and wait list Roseman.

Rejected from a grip of other schools
Withdrew from midwesterns.
Waiting only on USC, UCLA and UoP

Attending UMich and will only change decision if UCLA gives me interview and acceptance last minute, which is highly doubtful.

DAT score was only 22AA/21TS/21PAT

you can do it, just stay motivated and focused.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

I would like to remain anonymous so I cannot say which school, but if you have other questions please feel free to send me a message.

oddly, a variety which does not encompass only dentistry

-worked at University Recreation center in Fitness facility, culinary department and swim instruction
-worked as a dental assistant for a year
-completed a couple dental technique courses
-attended the State's Dental Association's Annual convention and sat through a couple lectures
-volunteered at Department of Veterans Affairs Memorial Hospital as an escort, clinical research assistant, and certified pharm tech
-joined a non-prof organization and went to Panama for a dental mission for a summer
-went to UoP's pre-dent day back in sept 2012

I think thats all... I was all over the place just exploring my interests and getting a feel for what I loved.

Hi guys I am new to this site. I was wondering what are my chances on getting into dental school. My current gpa is 3.37 science is around. 3.4 I have a two year degree I'm dental hygiene currently working on my ba in health care admin. So far these are my preq grades English 1 B English 2 C math college Algebra A bio 1 B Bio 2 A chem 1 A chem 2A Orgo 1 A- Orgo two I'm currently taking Ap 1 and 2 B+ micro bio C. I haven't taken the dat yet but based on my grades do I have a chance. Also by being a hygienist does that help. And are my chances better because I'm Hispanic or is that a rumor. Thanks for the help guys and good luck!!! By the way I have a friend who got rejected and is now taking a biomedical degree at a dental school they say that helps applying the second time around and some of the courses count towards dental school udmj

How many times are you going to ask this? This has nothing to do with this thread. Do you have a sub 3.0 gpa??

Apply and find out. You won't know until you actually give it a shot. Let's face it, you will probably get rejected from a lot of schools if your stats remain low/average. Look at me, I applied to a crap load of schools and got rejected from all, but one. HOWEVER, all it takes is ONE interview; you just have to make sure you shine bright like a diamond and get your swag on (although not too much swag!)!

Personally, you will also need to gain the ability to read people and adjust your personality to their liking; being overbearing and cocky is a sure way to get rejected during a interview.

I have an overall gpa of 3.3 and a sgpa of 3.1. Im applying for the next cycle and Im taking the DAT end of July, Im really worried that my gpa is going to hold me back from even being considered. I was so happy to read your post, a sign that there is still hope.

I had a 2.99 undergrad GPA at a state school, now finishing up a year at a small 4 year college retaking chem, organic chem, and bio with grades no lower than A-. Hopefully this will put me over the 3.0 benchmark on AADSAS

I'm aiming for a 23+ performance on the DAT this July so that my application doesn't get thrown out right away. lol

Your DAT scores won't get you automatically rejected. But your sub-3.0 cGPA will, depending on the school.
