Hey guys,
I posted a 28L for the May 19th MCAT (9 VR, 11 PS, 8 BS- bio section was beyond everyone I spoke with). 3.94 science gpa with 4.0 non-science. Average EC's. Upper Michigan resident. Anyone have an idea of what my shot at the Michigan schools may be?

Thanks in advance 👍

Given the minimal details you provided outside of GPA/MCAT, it's really difficult to gauge your chances, but provided your EC's are solid, I would apply to all but U Mich - that is, Wayne St., Mich St, and OUWB. I think the MCAT score makes U Mich an impossibly long shot unless you can boast some extraordinary life experiences.

Also, I spent a whole term during undergrad doing field biology in the UP. I love it up there.

Your MCAT is below average, but not a deal breaker. Your GPA is stellar. If you apply broadly, you should get an acceptance somewhere. If you plan on applying this cycle, I would do so as soon as possible as it's starting to get later in the application cycle and AMCAS verification will begin taking longer. You should apply to other schools beside Michigan to increase your chances. Most people apply to around 15 schools. Maybe look into some Ohio schools like Toledo, Wright State, and Cincinnati, along with private schools like Albany, Creighton, Drexel, Hofstra, Loyola, NYMC, and Wake Forest.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just counting on the in-state love. I have already applied and submitted 5 out of 8 secondaries. Hopefully it all works out. Talking to some people that have gone through the process, I have been told I am golden for MSU-CHM and MSU-COM but I would still like some more options. Either way, keeping my hopes up. Thanks again
