I visited Arizona and UNLV's dental schools over the summer (not interviewed.) Both schools were so cool (nice simulation labs and facilities!) Arizona's clinic takes the cake though. I also read somewhere on SDN that they just averaged a 92% on their boards. I'm praying for an interview, but am curious as to how the students there like it (they were mostly on break when I toured.) I'm from Utah, but go to UNC for undergrad and one of my Biology professors said to attend UNC, UConn, or the new school in Arizona if I get the chance. What do you ASDOH students think? Do you enjoy it? What are the pros and cons? Would someone coming from the East Coast enjoy it?

PM ItsGavinC... he attends Arizona.

The 92% average Part I score is false.

The school is awesome, and I'm having a blast here. Great clinic, great area, sweet weather, lots of patients, and we're doing LOTS of procedures. Our average D3 student has done 4-5 crowns, 20 restorations, 3-4 endos, a couple of complete dentures, an RPD or two, and probably 20 extractions. That's a broad generalization, but it pretty much falls in line with most of the students.

I'm very happy here.

I came for the modular class system geared towards getting through the boards by the end of year 1. I also came for the new facilities and new approach to dental education. Most importantly, I really liked the people I met on the times that I visited. I have not been disappointed.

Sure, maybe I'm only two months into school and I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase, but I'm having fun. Yes, a semester of Biochem in 6.5 school days is NOT fun, but that's why I came here.

Good luck with your decision.
