please let me know if i got any chance, i took dat twice and my most recent score is
AA 18
perceptual ability 13
quantitative 16
reading 19
biology 16
g chem 18
ochem 19
Total Sci 17

I did my masters in genetics from india and got it evaluated in usa and my gpa in undergrad is 3.53 and in Bachelor&masters 3.88. I have shadow almost 9 months my dentist I have not sent my application with AADASS yet, i have called to schools to get the info but they are not giving any clear answer, schools i want to apply are temple, penn, umaryland, umdnj because thse are the dental schools near me please help me..do i have any chance with my scores especiaaly with 13 in pat??

You have pretty good chances....your 13 will get you rejected at some schools, however, some schools won't even care about it. You'll be fine. Good luck.

REading Comp 19
Bio 19
Chemistry 24
Science Total 21
Academic Average 21
Perception 17
Carving 5* however, I'm allowed to retake this section and upgrade it because there were problems with my section.


My Gpa Cummulative is 3.69
Science 3.55

Good scores. Do well on the carving though. The 1st time I took the DAT I got a 13 on the carving. I practiced my ass off, but I was nervous as hell. The second time I took the dat I got a 26 on the carving, again I worked my ass off, but I managed to relax a bit and focus on what I had to do. So my advice, practice practice practice. I cant stress that enough.


Oh yeah, what problems did you encounter for them to let you take it again? This is the 1st time I've heard of this.

Your fine. With your GPA you are afforded the luxery of slacking a bit on the dat.

If you have extra money to spend, you have to submit your appication asap, since a lot of deadlines are coming. Also, do your research. Make your school choice wisely. Call the school to see if they have already filled (completely or almost) their class.

I think it might not be a bad idea to wait till next June and re-take DAT and boost your PAT score. Meanwhile, with your masters, I am sure you could find a decent job.

i think the latter two are state schools.
they will be tougher.

Penn is a good school.
with average DAT about 19.6 and 18.56

Temple has average DAT score about 17.79 and 17.49.

umdnj has 17.25 for PAT average.

all these stats are from 2002 entering class from ADEA booklet.

It really depends which is your home-state.

Harpreet,

I would strongly suggest retaking your DAT. Having a high gpa and a low DAT score brings suspicion to your school. I would study harder and retake the test.

Regarding PENN, our school usually has lower PAT scores, but not as low as 13, but if you have between a 16-18 you should be okay. However, Academic you should aim for the 20.

it's all about the hook up. if you have connections i think you can slide by especially with some private schools. retaking is definitely a good idea, but some school do offer a chalk carving test (ask tooth fairy he knows all about it), just do well on that and you will be fine. i think the dat is a lame test.
