I've heard much about Dr. Oz's reputation via 3rd party media (especially about the stanford letter to remove him from Columbia) but after watching a segment of his show today i have no idea how this guy is on the board of one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in the country. He's promoting pills that somehow "burn fat" while you sleep. This goes against everything science and medicine stand for.

Are there any students here from P&S that can comment on the political climate there? It seems like Columbia is fully backing Oz and i'm curious if its the entire faculty or specifically the executive branch

I think DNP is the next horizon

imagine this

burned out PCP opens up a new practice

it's a clinic where you are carefully and intensively monitored undergoing DNP infusion.

cash only

Dr. Oz is a nice guy in real life, but doesn't play a major role in student education. He occassionally gives a cardiac anatomy talk to first years. Some students do research in the lab he is affiliated with and have said that he is very responsive as a mentor. He also hires a P&S student each year to work on his show. I don't agree with the things that he promotes, but the bottom line is he reaches a lot of people, and some might argue that if people are buying a useless herb and also checking their blood pressure, it is a net win in the age of google-doctors. Further, he is encouraging people to take an active role in their health care, which is much in need. Overall I am ambivalent on his show and his tenure at P&S. I think the good and harm he does are equal.
