Hey I was wondering if there were any statistics that showed the number of students who graduate from each dental school who immediately begin practicing (as opposed to doing a GPR residency specifically, not necessarily a specialty). I really just want to determine what schools produce the most competent dentists who are ready to practice upon immediately finishing up dental school. Thanks in advance.

No, I don't think these stats are available, but at interviews some adcoms will tell you (most won't give solid numbers though). However, it's a fallacy to think schools with students who do GPRs aren't training enough or are sub-standard. Many students in general are doing AEGD and GPR at all schools because of the bad economy and because they need to work faster and get comfortable with all the procedures. I've been told by more than one faculty that they think everyone should do one of these.
