This question is for the students currently in optometry school. Do you have to dissect anything (e.g. an eyeball) in school? I am not a big fan of dissections. 🙁 Thanks.

But to answer your question, when I was in school we took over the cadavers after the students in the med school down the street were done with them. We then did some more in depth disections of the area around the eye.

One thing you will have to do is stuff involving eye contact -- everting eyelids, contact tonometry (for taking eye pressures -- IOPs), foreign body removal (though I don't know how involved that is, haven't done it yet), and gonio lens applanation (where you place a handheld lens directly on the eye with a gel interface). These things aren't a big deal, but I only mention them because I know some people who have dissection issues who are a little ooked out by these procedures.
