any ekg problems in step 1?

I had 2 or 3 EKGs on my COMLEX, but none on USMLE, so it depends on which exam you'll be taking.

i'd recommend to at least work to have a general understanding of how to interpret ekg's but don't go to crazy and read through a whole ekg book....i only had one question on my step 1, but it was very managable....i was given a portion of an ekg strip and i had to identify a specific drug that could cause the ekg abnormality shown in the strip

I read Dubin's twice but that was probably overkill. As long as you UNDERSTAND the basic mechanism of the ion channels and the EKG strips as presented in First Aid, you should be fine for Step I.
