Well I just hit the e-submit button and made all of my application fee payments and everything, just hoping things go okay, because I'm still waiting for one of my letter writers to send in their letter. So now I got two weeks to the DAT, and I'm scared out of my mind for it and I'm afraid I'll do bad or something, any DAT experiences anyone wants to share?

just realize that there are a lot of people in your same boat, I'm taking the DAT on saturday morning and I've had my ups and downs but things will work out. . . . probably . . . 👍

Hey Samiam,
Take the DAT when you feel most confident.
Do not go into the test thinking that you will not do well!
Confidence is VERY important!
Now, you must understand the test is CONQUERABLE! If you put in the time you will ACE it. It's not written to crush you. Order topscore...dat score will be close topscores!
Good LUCK!! 👍

A couple of years ago I was in your shoes - AADSAS in and waiting to take the DAT. My advice is to study, be good to yourself, and get plenty of sleep the night before you take the DAT. I memorized Kaplan's blue book and went over my classnotes over and over until I could spew facts and equations at the drop of a hat - that's what worked for me. I know this is related to the DAT but while we're on the topic of applying I suggest following up with AADSAS religiously as they tend to find a way to screw things up. You'll be in dental school before you know it. 👍

To be honest, the period of anticipation before you take the DAT is a lot worse than the actual test. I worked myself up so much before the darn thing, and once I took it, I was like: "That's was it?!?!"

Stay calm and don't stress over the test too much. You'll do great if you go in with a positive attitude.

main thing about this exam - don't psych urself out. i did and im kicking myself for it now since i gotta retake. ur gpa proves that u kno the stuff. so get in there, be confident, and you'll do awesome!!!!!!!!!! 👍 👍 👍

p.s. im applying to most of those skools too so hopefully ill c ya around! i just hafta click submit on my applications lolol

I always do this to myself, get overhyped up with an exam and my friends have to tell me to calm down. I was wondering, how close/accurate are the kaplan or barrons practice tests? I do pretty well with those, at least 17 or 18 in each category. I would get topscore, but by the time I get it, it wouldn't be in time for me to take the test June 30th, so I wish I thought of it early in May... 🙁 Anyways, I have been taking Kaplan courses since February and practicing the format of the test, and even if I take the test now or a month later, I'm still going to freak out, because I think too much on how the DAT is a big deal to me. The reading part of the DAT kinda makes me nervous, because I try to do the kaplan strategy, works well for the first passage, but then time starts to run out towards the end with the last passage and I wonder if there's a better way to go about the reading comp?

Look at the very bright side - your GPA!

Good luck on the DAT.
