I was just interested in knowing if there were any F-1 (international) students who were applying for Med school. I am one and I know our oppurtunities are limited. I would appreciate any guidance/information anyone can give me. Thanks!!!!

Why does F-1 mean international?

F-1 is the visa status for international students.

I am applying to med school as a F-1 status. I'm finishing up my Ph.D right now. It certainly is difficult for people of our status to get admitted. My numbers aren't that great, but I thought I would try. I was invited to interveiw at Western U/COMP in September (DO schools seems nicer to foreign students). Most schools require that you make escrow account of $200,000 before fully being accepted.

For more info you can search the SDN since there are lots of people like us. Don't give up though.

Wow! First PhD and then medical! All I can say is WOW! You are right in saying that DO schools seem more friendly for foreign applicants. I myself am appyling to DO schools in the PA area. Do you know of any company that loans w/o a cosigner? Even though I am lucky enough to have one I was hoping that I could it on my own.
Thanks

I like McLaren F1's, I wish I had one. The car. sometimes I drink them though.

sorry, that was the first thing that came to mind when i saw the thread.

thanks for nothing....I like those cars too, maybe one day I will have one 🙂

Hey there, I will be attending a US medical school with an F1 visa. I had many interviews and I dont think that my international status hurt me. however, i went to school in the US for grad and undergrad, so that definatley helped. And, I am a Canadian citizen. It is possible to get in as an international so definatley give it a good try.
