could anyone please help me on what i need to do to apply for the pedo? i need information on the requiremnents too please..

Why don't you talk to the pedo docs or program director at your school? They typically can answer the specific questions about different programs you may be interested in and what stats each of them look for. They are also the ones that may write the recommendation letters for you, so they can be your best allies. My ortho teachers as well as my dean of student affairs really helped with this information when I talked to them about ortho, and hopefully yours will help you too.

thank you but i am foreign trained dentist appearing for my NBDE 1 this october. so am wondering on this.. am not enrolled in any college here.

are you plannning on attending a US dental school as an advanced-standing student? We have 10 advanced standing students in my graduating class and I know a number of schools accept them, mostly for two years but some for 3. If you do that, then you will be just like any other dental student and you will have access to all the profs, dept. chairs, etc for help. If not, then your biggest question should be which schools accept foreign trained dentists in their program. If you are applying to those, then make sure you have a very high NDB part 1 score and a high TOEFEL score, since they might not even interview you if they think you are not fluent in english.

Advanced Standing is the terminology my school and I think a number of other dental schools use for those students that are dentists in a foreign country (such as yourself) but want to become dentists in US. Instead of making them repeat the whole 4 years of dental school, schools will let these dentists apply with NDB part 1 scores and they will start in the third year of dental school with the other third year dental students. Then they can go on, finish the last 2 years of dental shcool and become US dentists.

For what it's worth, I don't know of any pedo programs that take foreign dentists. There may be some, but I just don't know of any. It certainly wouldn't be the norm. You'll most likely have to go through 4 years of dental school in the US, or get an advanced position and do the final 2 years of dental school, and then apply to pedo programs. Good luck with all of it! The www.adea.org website and the www.aapd.org website have program listings that may point you in the right direction in terms of accepting foreign graduates.

I am foreign trained dentist now trying to get in to dental school for doing DDS .do you mind telling me what exactly schools see for ortho program in a student .do you mind telling me what you mean by high scores ,I mean to ask that what score is high score ,is that above 90 or can you tell me what you think as you may have experience and do you think my GPA in my bachelors in india will count too if I have good GPA in my DDS in US?
