Hey guys, I was wondering what are my chances of getting in. I dont have many extracurricular activities and these are my stats:

3rd year bio major
Science GPA: 3.52
DAT: havnt taken it yet (planing to get 21 or higher)

Activities:
-Member of dental club at school
-Shadowed general dentist 100 hours
-Participated in careers for dentistry workshop at Loma Linda
-Over 500 hours community service at my church/temple
-Starting research on microbes (for units) this winter quarter through graduation.

I also heard that dental schools look for trends in students. If this helps, like many people I F***ED up freshman year and my GPA was 2.9 at end of freshman year and I brought it up to 3.52 within a year.

Please be honest and let me know what are my chances. Also let me know what more I can do to increase my chances. If you think I dont have a chance, then let me know.. be honest... I dont care even if you have to blow me off... I just want to know if I am wasting my time chasing my dream...

Thank you guys for your time.

Hey bro,

Your grades are awesome, and if you end up pulling 20+ above on the DATs you should be fine. My gpa is lower than yours and i still got lots of interviews. gl.

why do you even ask???

"eh... i dont have any extracurriculars at all... except for maybe 500+ hours comm service at my church and research for a few years. Oh, and besides my high GPA, i plan on scoring somewhere in the upper 90th percentile on the DAT. *pat on back*"

you'll get in. maybe not harvard, but as long as you apply sometime in early/mid summer, you'll get in somewhere.

Hi,

So how do you prove all your EC's and shadowing hours? Is it something that you just say you did or do you actually have to prove in a written letter? Sorry for being ignorant about stuff like this, but I'm very new and I'm somewhere between freshman and sophomore wishing to go into D school, also.

When you apply your considered an adult and they won't need official validation for any of your activities. having said that, they may ask you about your activities so people who fabricate may get caught then. also, preprofessionals should practice professional integrity so honesty will be the best policy. gl.

Manifest it dude. I planned on getting a 30 across the board. Sorry I am just joking dude more power to you. I didn't think the DAT was that hard and I really only studied a couple days prior to the test. My scores weren't stellar 19/19/20
I believe if I wasn't a huge slacker I would have done better.

Sorry dude, but if trends continue, you'll need to get at least a 28 (yeah, on all sections, at least) on the DAT and a 3.95 GPA (don't forget to triple major) to have a shot at getting in. I know you are ultra nervous right now, but I suggest that you increase your shadowing hours to about 2,000 hrs.

Good luck. You'll need it. 😉 😉
