I am currently participating in the match and have some concerns about the quality and type of training i will receive as a psych resident in the military. I am an AirForce 4 year HPSP and have only 2 places available for residency, Wright Pat and Wilford Hall. I know nothing personally of these programs. I just hear things through the grape vine which is why I am leaning more towards Wright Pat. I am a competitive applicant, and have received interviews from some of the best civilian psych residencies. Per the military's match requirement that I participate in the military match, I have applied for civilian deferment as my first choice and Wright Pat as my second. I am just concerned about whether matching in the military will "hurt" my future as a psychiatrist in the civilian world and possibly result in more time that I have to "payback". Does anyone have any advice and information about these 2 military residency programs?
