hey y'all
i'm going to be a first yr at howard...(so, i guess i have no business being on this actual forum but i figured it would be a good way to catch the upperclassmen...).
anyhow, i guess i'm going to sound like a complete nerd but i just wanted to know if any of you guys/gals knew about AOA at HUCM...the doc who interviewed me, dr. hong, told me that selection to AOA was based on 1st yr grades and that basically the top 10 make it. She was like study really hard the first yr, get into AOA and chill the rest of the time...well, she didn't exactly say 'chill' but you get the idea...that lady is crazy...i was worried about getting in and she was going on like i was already in...anyways, the whole idea that admission into AOA rests solely on 1st yr grades seems kinda wack...but then again HUCM does seem to march to the beat of a different drummer...I tried to search for info on the website but only got a link to some AOA banquet or some such thing...so while i know that HUCM does indeed have an AOA chapter, i can't seem to find any more info...
i was one of those pretty average B ( + coupla 'C's) kinda a student in college who suddenly found himself interested in opthamology...so, i guess i have to kinda step it up a notch if i actually do end up wanting to go into this field, and getting into AOA would be a step in that direction...so, if anyone out there in cyberspace are actually part of this elusive (and rather exclusive) organization, can ya hook me up w/ so info? Also any tips/advice on how to get thru 1st yr alive, sane and good grades would be truly appreciated 🙂
