Any insight about sending an email to a school's admission committee communicating your extreme interest in attending their program?
I'm an extremely borderline applicant and I'm wondering if doing so would be a good idea or if it would simply be looked at as brown-nosing. Typically I'd look down on something like this, considering it brown-nosing but I've heard of people calling a school and saying their interested and being offered an interview on the spot. I'm willing to do just about anything short of selling my soul to a school, so I may just go for it anyways. But what do my fellow SDN compadres out there think?

Personally I don't see how it would make a difference. If they are interested in you in the first place, they know how to find you.. Telling them you are interested in them, well I think they would assume that since you applied there.. Then again, people do have "TOP" choice schools, and lower rated ones on their list.. I mean I can't see it hurting you to convey how much you want to go to a particular school, but I don't know if it would help much either.. If they want you, they will interview and accept you.. I have read on here that some schools like to know how interested you are in them, others see it as a bother, just another piece of paper they have to go through.. Just my 2 cents..

i think it's safe to assume that every student is extremely interested in getting into the schools they apply, so the adcoms expect that. restating your interest isn't going to make them change their minds about an applicant... either u make the cut or u dont. if anything i think it looks like brown-nosing

Like everyone else said...its both unprofessional and unattractive. Having said that, there are other ways to express your interest without actually flat out brown nosing. perhaps send them a sincere letter updating them on your current endeavors? if your doing great things this year and its not included in your app, make sure they know. gl.

hey now, that's a cool idea. i never really thought about that. being borderline and all, that'd probably be pretty smart to mention all the extra stuff besides classes i'm doing-because there is no where to add this on AADSAS, right? just an update in classes is all you can add, right? thanks for the opinions SDNers.

Also, you can call and ask if they will accept ur new trascript with ur new grades and classes- but first make sure they do since some schools do not...

But forget about the idea of the "high intrest e-mail"- its just not a "good" idea.
