Hi all, I was accepted to a couple PT programs this cycle and have narrowed down my list for programs I’m considering attending, down to two. The two programs are Marymount U and Franklin Pierce NH.
A little background info on me is that I’m from New England so Franklin pierce is closer to me (2 and a half hour drive) vs Marymount (5 hour drive) I have not been a full time student in about 5 years so I know getting back into the groove will be difficult but with the maturity I’ve gained through the years I know it will be doable.
Both have great pass rates and graduation rates. Both have comparable tuition. The cost of living would be higher for Marymount though. I had the opportunity to interview with Marymount and really like the vibe of the program and I’ve also had the chance to talk to some students outside of the interview day who have nothing but good things to say. I was just accepted to Franklin pierce very recently and have not had the opportunity to speak to any student nor does the program interview so I have not had the chance to talk to any faculty.
I’m guess what I’m asking for is just a bit of insight for anyone who has attended these schools or knows anyone who attended these schools and has information on the cities the schools are in. Each has Its pros and cons. One thing that concerns me about Marymount is that it uses PBL Which is much different from the traditional curriculum I’ve used my entire academic career. One thing that concerns me about Franklin pierce is the fact that it’s an accelerated program and I’m worried that the cramming of the information may be a bit much as pt school is already rigorous as is.
Anyways thanks for any help. I’ve been reading these forums for years thinking I’d never get into PT school and it feels amazing/scary that my dream is finally being realized.
